![]() ![]() If the guys from the TR10A team on Core Design are reading this (likely not), PLEASE get back together and resume TR10A as a fangame so we can finally get the superior remake at last. So far the closest we have to a TR10A fangame is Teeth's cancelled TR1 Retold. I go on about this so much as I love Core's stuff, I love that remake despite it never being released, I want that remake and I'm really angry at Eidos for not letting us have it. The link below has some good information gathered on the remake over time, including screenshots, videos and downloads for things like texture packs from the remake. If there's not much that can be done, then the real Core Design TR10A could always be built from scratch using the FreeRunning/Fully Debugged Angel of Darkness engine. It probably couldn't be released here either I'd have guessed despite the fact Valve themselves said anything goes on Steam. It ain't Good Old Games for nothing, though TR10A probably couldn't be released here. This is the GOG forums so any game graphics, old and good and old and bad are welcome. Originally posted by Dark Redshift/GOG version post:And of course C. this was 2006 so of course handheld graphics and even main system ones would not be as powerful as today. the trailers were running on PSP hardware (as the game was going to be a timed exclusive to PSP with enhanced PC and PS2 versions coming after) and B. It looks a little clunky and it may not have as nice graphics as you'd expect but remember that A. I use TR10A to separate it from TRA which is the one Crystal made. It was nearly done as far as I'm aware before Eidos canned it, so if they managed to prevent at least one copy of the game from being deleted, we should try and get that build and it's development tools so it can be polished up, finished completely and released by the fans as a fangame so we finally get the superior Tomb Raider 1 remake that Eidos denied us in favour of Crystal Dynamics's s.hit fanfiction one, making sure to credit the original Core team who started the remake all those years ago.Įven though it would have to be free in order to avoid Eidos attacking it, (as unlike Nintendo, Eidos appear to know better than to bully fangame makers) I'd still pay for Core's TR10A if it could be sold and even then it's worth more to me than any reasonable price it could be given. The game was followed by Tomb Raider: Underworld (2008), the last in the Legend trilogy that takes place directly after the events of Legend.I originally posted this in the GOG general discussion and Tomb Raider forums too, but I'll add it here as well as I'd really like this to happen, however unlikely it is:Īssuming all builds were not destroyed, someone should get in contact with the Core Design team who were working on Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition and see if they can wrangle the last development build of the game as well the game's engine and all other development tools used from them if they still have them lying around somewhere away from Eidos and Square Enix's prying eyes. While it reached high positions in sales charts, the game would become the worst selling entry in the franchise, selling just 1.3 million copies worldwide compared to the original game's 7 million. The Wii version also divided opinion, with some critics praising the implementation of motion controls but others faulting them. Upon release, Anniversary received generally positive reviews from critics who deemed it a worthy remake of the original game, though some criticism was aimed at the game's graphics and occasional technical issues. A remake of the original Tomb Raider was initially being created by franchise creators Core Design, but the project was cancelled following their sale to Rebellion Developments in 2006. Composer Troels Brun Folmann remade and added to the music using an orchestral style. Using the Legend engine, the team rebuilt the gameplay and levels, and series cocreator Toby Gard expanded the narrative. The Wii version includes console-exclusive motion control elements, and the mobile port features side-scrolling gameplay emulating earlier mobile Tomb Raider titles.įollowing the completion of Legend, Crystal Dynamics began developing Anniversary. Gameplay features Lara navigating linear levels, fighting enemies and solving puzzles to progress. Taking place before the events of 2006's Tomb Raider: Legend, Anniversary follows series protagonist Lara Croft's quest for the Scion of Atlantis. ![]()
